The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) for ISO 9001:2026 was submitted for ballot by ISO Technical Committee 176/SC 2 in April 2026. This is the last formal stage before publication. Official release is expected in September 2026.
Key additions confirmed in the FDIS:
Existing ISO 9001:2015 certificate holders will have a transition period after the new edition is published. The duration and deadline have not yet been confirmed; follow authoritative ISO and certification-body guidance.
See our full transition guideISO TC 176/SC 2 published the Draft International Standard (DIS) for the revised ISO 9001 in August 2025, opening the document for a formal comment and ballot period. The DIS confirmed the revision as a focused update rather than a structural overhaul. The familiar high-level structure (HLS/Annex SL) is retained.
The draft ballot period has since closed. Precision QMS has reviewed the DIS content and our platform roadmap incorporates the clause changes ahead of final publication.
Precision QMS is now live for South African businesses pursuing or maintaining ISO 9001 certification.
